I just purchased this volt meter from a local tool supply store and installed it on my lawn tractor to monitor the battery. The face is 2-1/4″ in diameter and it requires a 2″ hole to install. (I don’t have a 2″ hole saw, so I used a compass to draw the 2″ circle and then drilled small holes around the inside of the circumference until I could remove the center. Then I used a half round file to smooth the inside edge.) The over-all length of the meter is approximately 2-1/2″ so you need at least 2-1/2″ to 2-3/4″ of space behind the surface of the hole in order to accommodate the depth of the meter. Installation was relatively easy. The meter is held in place with two knurled thumb nuts threaded on from the back side–I’d recommend using blue threadlock when installing them so that they don’t vibrate loose. Positive and negative hookups are on the back side as male blades for female quick disconnects. I am not utilizing the back light, since it is installed on my lawn tractor, so I cannot speak to how well the lamp illuminates. It seems to be a good “no frills” volt meter.
